Ben Stafford is multi-instrumentalist, author and illustrator from Lancashire. Individual yet cohesive. That’s how Ben Stafford describes the songs that shape his latest body of work ‘HAPPIER TODAY’. His fifth album, again with the help of friend and fellow creative Mickey Smith, who added his bass wizardry and mastering, and Tom Baird who added additional production and mixed the record.
HAPPIER TODAY is a collection of upbeat feel good songs, but like most of Ben’s work, undertones of melancholy meander and pass throughout. Arpeggiated synths, string arrangements and a plethora of drum machines, accompany Ben’s ever present Echoplex tape delay, on this expansive and subtle head nodding album.
